Math Week at Marshland

Kia ora bloggers,
This week we have had math week, in math week we have had different things going on including a scavenger hunt with younger pupils and a scavenger hunt for us, we have also played bingo, 8 out of 10 cats does countdown, maths baseball, and greedy pig. Here are the rules for the games, 8 out of 10 cats does countdown you get given a randomly generated number and you choose 6 numbers, there are small numbers ranged between 1 - 9 and big numbers ranged from 10 - 100, the aim of the game is to get as close to the given number as possible by multiplying, dividing, adding and subtracting you can only you a number once. Next onto greedy pig, you have a piece of paper to record the game and a die the aim of the game is to get as many points as possible without getting out the way you can get out is if you roll a six or whatever number you choose if the number is rolled you lose all your points from that round the way you get points is if you roll any other number than the dedicated number, you can bank at any point or you can risk it and keep going. Finally maths baseball the aim of the game is to make it home by beating the other team to answering the math question

Awesome Week 10 Mashup

Hello bloggers,
Today I will be sharing my week 10 activities, starting with my literacy work.
In literacy, we made some horror posters using Canva, that was about the movie that we watched, Hocus Pocus.
Have you ever made a poster?

Next to my Numeracy work,
This work was about Algebra and number patterns,
If we are given the rule multiply by 5 then add 2,  in Algebra this would look like....
(X x 5) + 2 = Y
And here is my working out of the task.

Now finally my Binary work
In are Binary session we had to make a bracelet out of beads representing our initials in beads,
Sadly I don't have a photo of my bracelet but I do have a picture of the work we had to do.
Have you ever use binary?
Thanks for stopping by make sure to leave a comment and I'll see you next time

Incredible Irony Comic strip

Hello Bloggers
I'm back with another post today about a Comic strip about verbal irony,

In the first square, we see my friend Noah saying he loves community work and in the next one we see him coming up with an idea, the next one we see him saying he wants more and in the final one he asks the teacher for more (P.S I'm the teacher) and I say yes he can. The Irony in this is him saying he loves doing community work. Have you ever used Irony?
Thanks for stopping by and I'll see you next time, BYE :)

Marvellous Math with Mrs Davies

Kia ora Bloggers,

This week in maths we have been looking at angles and polygons. We have been determining the interior angles of a shape as well as drawing some shapes using a compass- not a North/South compass, but a pair of compasses that you draw circles with.

A little run down of my knowledge is this.

And here are some examples of the work we have done on angles.

Have you ever drawn anything other than a circle with a compass? Here is the link to a tutorial showing you how to do it. Have a go!

Have a nice day and i'll see you all next time BYE :)
